Forbidden City or also called Zijin Cheng in Chinese, actually is not really a city, but a complex of imperial palace that looking so big till they called it like a city. It was used to be the office and living area for almost 500 years during Ming and Qing Dynasties. In total there have 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing ruled the country from there. The palace called Forbidden City because only royal families and some certain people can enter the palace. As the important historical site, Forbidden City attracts so many foreigners today.
Built from 1406 till 1420, Forbidden City in total located in the area of 72 hectares with 8,707 rooms. Walk to the palace, you will see major red and yellow gold color with authentic Chinese carved. A large complex where full with solid and magnificent buildings with the architecture details in each room layout. Because of that, this royal palace was listed by UNESC0 as a world cultural heritage site in 1987.
After enter the main gate, Meridian Gate, we can see many souvenirs and snack shops. Local people also said, if you enter the main enter gate and touch nine horizontal rows bulges then your wishes will come true. Inside Forbidden City, the complex area was maintained very well and clean. While enter the palace, you can directly see the Hall of Supreme Harmony and Hall of Preserving Harmony, two main buildings where become the place used for the emperors handle many affairs and ceremonies. The building was so strong and antique.
Beside those two main halls, other buildings, halls, temples, yards, and garden surrounded look very amazing! The complex of this palace was surrounds by many high walls. When you are in it, you will realize how great the palace it is personally, the great feeling beyond description. It is just really a forbidden place, very quiet and cold. Here you could imagine how the people at past live inside the palace. Visitors should prepare an excellent physical and stamina because for explore all the area of Forbidden City, it may need more than half day.
Till you reach the back yard which was used to be the emperor’s garden, you will see many ancient trees which are hundreds years old, same as the palace age. If you like, have a short rest there, under the trees while fresh air blows with cool atmosphere around.
