Chongqing Highlights Dazu Rock Carving Visit in China

Beishan Carvings

The statues in Beishan Mountain are all famous for the meticulously carved in high technology and the elegant figures in the world, is rated to be the Museum for Kwan-yin Statues in China. Beishan Carving is not the most north carving in Dazu County, so careful when you find the spot. The works here are closer to life, reveal the aesthetic taste in Song Dynasty. Statues are impressed by the bright characteristics, beautiful posture, shapely proportion and the colorful dresses.

The most symbolize work in Beishan Mountain is the Zhuanlunjing Cave which reflects its quiet heart by the tranquil face and the noble status by the exquisite dress. The statues are decorated with ribbons and strong feelings, and mostly preserved very well, is recognized by public to be the Pearl on the Imperial Crown of Chinese Grotto Art. The Statue of Samantabhadra has the features of the beauty of oriental woman, gentle, refined, elegant and graceful, is rated to be the Oriental Venus.

Nashan, Shizhuanshan and Shimenshan Carvings

Nanshan Mountain, also known as Guanghuashan Mountain, is located at Longgang Town in Dazu County, has various kinds of statues in Taoism. It is the most concentrated and most complete groups of carvings reflecting the god system in the Taoist statue.

Shizhuanshan Carving is the typical complex area of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism statues, is rare in grottoes in China. Here, I like the harmonious atmosphere of the Chinese religions in that time.

Shimenshan Carving is the complex area of statues in Buddhism and Taoism, especially the Taoist statues are most characteristic.

I felt it is not enough after so many rock carvings in Dazu County, but the hometown of rock carving – Dazu will lets you never disappointed. The Miaogaoshan Carving, Jianshanzi Carving, Shuchengyan Carving, Duobaota and Qianfoyan Carving are waiting for you.

After the enjoyment to carvings, the Dazu County is also a good place to appreciate the beautiful views in Chongqing. It is said the Longshui Lake in Dazu County combines the all characteristics of many famous lakes in China, and the Xishan Forest Park is famous for the natural scenery and attractive views.
